Mayoor School, MUN 2020
Mayoor School, Noida which has collaboration with Mayo College General Council, Ajmer hosted the much awaited fourth edition of Mayoor School, Model United Nations Conference on 22 August 2020 through the virtual platform. More than 250 delegates not only from the reputed schools of the country but also from abroad participated online demonstrating their leadership and collaborative skills deliberating over the sensitive world issues.
The riveting event commenced with a befitting Opening Ceremony wherein the Principal, Ms. Alka Awasthi, extended a warm welcome to all the young delegates, guests and school management. She also expounded the students the significance of such discourses and reiterated that open mindedness and team work are the key ingredients of success. The Chief Guest for this mega event was Dr. Abusaleh Shariff, a renowned economist with varied experience in public policy and applied economics and the Guest of the Honour was Ms S. Dharini Arun, Joint Secretary, COE Noida CBSE.
In his address, the Chief Guest applauded the commendable efforts of the Mayoorians and highlighted the global issues and the need for the global economic integration. He also shared with the students the importance of remaining abreast with international affairs and learn to be equipped to deal with real world situations. The Guest of Honour, Ms Dharani, congratulated the young participants and expressed her appreciation for such forum that help develop delegates into intelligent diplomats. Hereafter, the forum was declared open by the Secretary General, Navshimmer Kaur Kalra.
The Mayoor School, MUN comprised of six committees–UNGA, UNHRC, UNCSW, AIPPM, UNSC and UNEA. The delegates in all the committees were extremely enthusiastic and indulged in healthy and productive debates on astounding agendas. The invigorating conference came to an end with felicitation of the Executive Board.
They in their address and vote of thanks said that MUNs are not for achieving awards, but it is to become a part of a generation that envisages to transform the world. The best delegates in all the committees were honoured with a certificate for their excellence. The best delegation trophy was bagged by Mayoor Private School, Abu Dhabi.
The Mayoor School, MUN 2020 was a huge success enriching each participant with finer aspects of diplomacy and oratory and debating skills.
